Severe heat wave warning for many parts of State

Bhopal city continues to witness heat waves with sizzling 45 degrees Celsius temperature for the second day. The temperature range is highest recorded for the month of June which is six degrees above normal. Weather Department has issued alert and has requested people not to come under direct sunlight for next 48 hours due to severe heat wave conditions. Major fluctuation in temperature range is not being witnessed.
 
However, Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions witnessed temperature range more than the normal. Whereas Gwalior and Sagar divisions witnessed temperature less than normal. Maximum temperature recorded at Hoshangabad was 47 degrees Celsius. Severe heat wave conditions will continue at Gwalior, Guna, Datia, Shivpuri, Hoshangabad, Chhatarpur, Sheopurkalan, Raisen, Khargone. As per Weather Department hot winds will be further intensify at areas in Jabalpur, Mandla, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Harda, Pachmarhi, Sehore divisions. On Saturday, Bhopal recorded maximum temperature at 45 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature at 32 degrees Celsius and wind velocity recorded was at 22 km per hour. Heat wave conditions are going to continue in most parts of the State.
 
In last twenty four hours Balaghat, Annupur, Dindori, Mandla, Dhar, Chhindwara, Katni and Betul witnessed thunder showers at isolated places. Rainfall recorded at Nainapur was at 12.4mm, Chhindwara 8.4mm. Rainfall was also witnessed at Ganjbasoda. Heat wave was witnessed at Hoshangabad district and in Chhindwara, Mandla, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Betul, Bhopal, Raisen, Khandwa, Khargone, Ratlam, Shajapur, and other districts. Though Saturday witnessed pre monsoon like activity in isolated parts of the State including Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam etc. Besides, in last twenty four hours Shahdol, Sagar, Bhopal and Ujjain divisions witnessed light rains.
 
Other areas like Amarkantak recorded rainfall at 1 cm. Among other regions Rewa, Jabalpur, Satna, Sidhi, Umaria, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Hoshangabad, Raisen, Rajgarh, Khargone and Gwalior districts witnessed heat wave conditions and duststorm. The pre-monsoon activities witnessed in some areas last week, including Neemuch and Burhanpur, but now the intensity of pre-monsoon is declined. Pre-monsoon has started rest of the country however in the next four to five days in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, the status of heat wave conditions can be maintained. The climatic feature of Bhopal in June is the onset of south west monsoon which brings rapid fall in day temperature. In 2018, total 113.3 mm rainfall was recorded for Bhopal city in the month of June.
