In a major breakthrough, a live pangolin was rescued from a poacher by a combined team of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Jabalpur, Special Task Force Jabalpur and Madhya Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation in forest area of Kundam Project Range Badwara in Katni district, on Sunday. The endangered wild animal is costing around Rs 50 lakh in the international market and in high demand of international network of wildlife crime. The accused has been identified as Hariram Kol (32), son of Natthu Kol, a resident of Badwara.
 
Madhya Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation’s daily wage employees Santosh Pyasi and constable, Dilbahar Singh received information about a poacher who was seen with a live pangolin in the forest area and trying to sell it. Taking prompt action on the information, senior officers of Forest Department were informed and a combined team of WCCB, STF and Forest Development Corporation started a search for the poacher.
 
Continuing a rigorous search, the team succeeded in apprehending the accused and safely rescued the pangolin from him. The team comprised SDO, S S Maravi, Ivnesh Ivne, Umashankar Kewat, Arjun Singh, Rajbahadur, Harvansh, Madhya Pradesh Forest Development Corporation’s Inspector, Devendra Singh Rathore, Dilbahar Singh, Rajiv Kumar Dixit and WCCB’s Vipin Kumar Chaturvedi, Constable, Vinod Kumar Patel.
