Bomb scare at Mana Camp

The entire rank and file of Raipur Police remained on tenterhooks after bomb-like material was spotted at Mana Camp in limits of Mana police station on Sunday morning. Sensation prevailed in the area as the news of bomb spread like wildfire. However, senior police officials confirmed the suspected bomb-like material in polythene was not a bomb and possibly, placed by mischievous elements to create sensation.
 
After being informed about the suspected object wrapped with electric wire, senior police personnel accompanied by staff of Mana police station, experts from Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), sniffer dogs and other rushed to take stock of the situation and maintain law and order.
 
“As a pre-emptive measure, the suspected object was taken away from human population for inspection. During inspection of object, it was learnt by experts that the bag was containing 3-4 packets of cannabis, explosives used in manufacture of crackers lighted during Diwali and wires. Neither any detonators nor high quality explosives and battery was recovered from the suspected object,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur. The ASP City further added that mischievous elements might have placed the bag to create sensation in the area. Police have registered a case and started investigation in this connection.
