Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning in some parts of State

SUNDAY morning started with heavy rains in the State capital which resulted in waterlogging in many areas. Heavy rain showers brought huge respite with chaos. The incessant rains continued for three to four hours and resulted in uprooting of trees in some areas that led to traffic jam and power cuts. Potholes surfaced on newly built roads due to heavy flow of water from nearby nullahs. However, weather started to change by noon and by late afternoon it was sunny again with increased humidity. Bhopal recorded maximum temperature at 29 degrees Celsius and minimum remained 22 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Wind velocity recorded was coming to 18 kms per hour. Rain showers were witnessed in many parts of the city which brought respite from hot and humid weather conditions.
 
Locals at VIP road and MP Nagar were seen getting drenched in rain as it brought down the temperature. Maximum temperature of Bhopal was 30 degrees Celsius four degrees below normal. Minimum temperature remained 22.4 degrees Celsius which was one degree below normal. Sporadic rains were also witnessed at some places in the region in the evening. In last 24 hours rainfall was witnessed at Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Hoshangabad and Ujjain division.
 
Heavy rainfall warning was issued in Betul, Neemuch, Khargone, Hoshangabad, Mandsaur, Mandla, Dewas, Balaghat, Satna, Gwalior, Badwani etc. Cities including Guna recorded 37 mm rainfall, Damoh recorded 28 mm, Ujjain recorded 13 mm, Satna recorded 7 mm, Bhopal recorded 17.8 mm and Ratlam 8 mm. Notably, heavy rains in Malwa-Nimad region brought floods in river at Burhanpur and it was reported that some workers who were engaged in construction of bridge on the river were trapped in flood. However, the administration rescued the workers safely on time. As per the Weather Department due to westward movement of low pressure system, widespread rainfall with heavy to heavy rainfall at a few places likely over east Madhya Pradesh.
 
West Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness more rainfall during next 3 to 4 days. In next few days, Madhya Pradesh will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places especially in east Madhya Pradesh. Maximum temperature recorded in Indore was 31.2 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. Relative humidity was 23 per cent. Maximum temperature recorded in Jabalpur was 36.8 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius which was three degrees above normal temperature. Relative humidity was at 42 per cent. Maximum temperature recorded at Gwalior was 40.6 degrees Celsius which was one degree less than normal range and minimum temperature was recorded at 29.7 degrees Celsius which was two degrees less than normal.
