Court convicts Vishnu Bamore in rape, murder case

Court to announce quantum of punishment to rape convict today 
 
District and Sessions Court, on Wednesday, found 33-year-old accused Vishnu Bamore guilty of raping and killing nine-year-old minor girl in Mandwa slum area of Nehru Nagar on June 8. Quantum of punishment will be decided on Thursday.
 
On Wednesday, heavy police force was deployed in the court premises to avoid any untoward incident as accused was produced in court when court found him guilty. ADJ Kumudani Patel has found the accused guilty under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 302 (murder) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. SHO Kamla Nagar Alok Shrivastava said, “Accused has been found guilty under sections 376, 377, 302 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. On Thursday, the court will announce punishment in the case.”
 
Earlier on June 4, Vishnu Prasad Bamore turned hostile in the court where he was produced on Thursday afternoon. Earlier, in the police investigation, he had admitted that he had committed crime but, he said that he is innocent. A nine-year-old girl, who was missing on June 8 evening from a slum in Bhopal, was raped and found murdered on June 9. The victim’s body was found in a drain in Mandwa slum opposite Indian Institute of Forest Management (IFFM) in Nehru Nagar area under Kamla Nagar police station. The post-mortem report had confirmed sexual assault and death due to strangulation. Accused Vishnu was arrested from Khandwa in this case. Home Minister Bala Bachchan suspended half-a-dozen policemen, including a head constable, for inaction in the case.
