AICC President should be appointed at the earliest

In the wake of party’s humiliating defeat and Rahul Gandhi tendering resignation from President post, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said that party is facing a serious time and it is the need of hour that party needs to reinvent and rejuvenate itself. Also, party needs to search its new chief and decision in this regard should be taken as soon as possible. Addressing the press conference at auditorium of Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Thursday, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that everyone tried to convince Rahul Gandhi that he should withdraw the resignation but he is firm on his decision.

Now, party has to elect its new president soon. The successor should be able to infuse new energy into party. Answering to a question that whether he is interested to handle the party reins, he said that Congress has a working committee and all members have to take a joint decision. On the impending decision on appointment of new AICC President, he told that seven weeks have passed (for Rahul Gandhi’s resignation) and he had never seen such a scenario in his life. However, he said that he never believed in race meant for chair rather he believes in serving people.

Replying to a question on Congress’ defeat in Lok Sabha, he was frank to say that results mirror towards shortcomings and they needs to be ironed out. “I myself lost the election and there should be some shortcomings in me and I need to look towards them,” he stated. On the question of dynasty system in politics, he said “If a son of journalist, advocate and doctor follows the footstep of his father then there is no problem for anyone but ……,”

He also said that within party, he will continue to raise the demands of people. Coming on question related to difference between bureaucrats and ministers, he told that both of them should work together. If bureaucrat is correct then his voice should be heard and if minister is correct then his views should be accommodated.
