TikTok ban

Sir,
The Government is contemplating action against Chinese video sharing app TikTok after seeing many death incidents. It has been alleged, in several countries no less, that the app is proving to be a fertile hunting ground for pedophiles. Recently, in one incident a 24-year-old young man, who couldn’t swim, while bathing in the lake and making TikTok videos, had moved deeper in the lake and died. Such incidents happen every day and many people are losing their lives while making TikTok videos. Government had to ban TikTok before many more lives are lost to the craze.

Cinematic developments in Karnataka

Sir
Creating a noise at the higher hierarchy of leadership not only confuses the larger public but also creates doubts and serious questions in the existing leadership mechanism. Elected leaders in the country are expected to take the real leadership role for overall development of the Region. Everyday developments in regard to the 10 rebel MLAs of Karnataka is making the large public think whether their stay in a Mumbai hotel political leaders are making an attempt that is mostly beneficial for their own interest? Is there any life threat to them in their elected State and whether local State police is unable to provide safety to them? Who all are directly or indirectly linked to the resignation of these leaders and what could be the hidden reasons? Again, in all probability, these developments seem not to be directly related to the larger interest of the public there. It is surprising to know about the doubts being raised by the Speaker on the resignation format.

These developments have drawn the attention of the Supreme Court. In ideal situations, leaders are expected to work selflessly for the overall growth of the larger public. Again, they should have all the essential skills of taking a lead role. Creation of serious confusion and making public think on ethical integrity of the elected leaders. It is a severe irreversible damage especially on the newer generation and that might affect the future growth. With all these happenings, it comes to mind that trainings courses may be imparted to the elected members in line with existing highly structured defence or other training given to the Group-A Gazetted officers by Government of India.

Skills Day

Sir,
On 18 December 2014, the UNGA adopted by consensus, a resolution, spearheaded by Sri Lanka, declaring 15th July as the World Youth Skills Day. Sri Lanka initiated this resolution, with the assistance of the G77 & China, to highlight at a global level, the importance of youth skills development. The goal is to achieve better socio-economic conditions for youth. The UN Secretary - General’s Special Envoy for Youth, Mr. Ahmed Alhendawi supported this initiative from the early days, while the UN system in New York and Colombo were solidly behind it. Since it was first suggested in the Strategy Committee, WorldSkills International has pursued a World Skills Day. Vasavi Raju Barde
