Lecture, interactive session held at RNTU

An expert lecture and interactive session was conducted at Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU), Bhopal on ‘Building a Culture of Innovation to IPR’ the other day, organised by Faculty of Science, Rabindranath Tagore University.
 
 
Parag Bhargava, Professor, Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, was present as a Resource Person. He delivered an inspiring lecture as well as conducted an interactive session. The lecture was highly appreciated by the students, faculties, HoDs and Dean(s) of the university, as well as students of International Public School, Bhopal. Professor Bhargava’s research is focused on ‘Powder Processing’, ‘Near Net Shape Forming of Advanced Ceramics’, ‘Gel casting’, ‘Rapid prototyping’, ‘Rheology of Suspensions’, ‘Indentation Cracking of Ceramics’ and ‘Ceramic composites’. Professor Bhargava has number of international peer reviewed publications, patents and he has also transferred technology to various ceramic industries.
 
 
His lecture comprised the demand and importance of Innovation, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and technology transfer from academician to industries in India. He has shown some nice comparative analysis chart of innovations and trade balance in several countries like USA, Germany, China, Japan and South Korea with India and justified the immediate requirement of ‘Innovations of Products and Processes’ from economic point of view in India. His thought-provoking lecture motivated the audience and students of International Public School, who have attended the lectures, which also made them ask lots of questions and shared their ideas on ‘Innovation’. In this session, students and faculties got a glimpse of the latest insights into the emerging technologies and advancements on ‘Innovation’.
 
 
Dr Sudeshna Ray, Centre Director of ‘Advanced Material Research Lab’, Rabindranath Tagore University, along with her research scholar Dr Prachi Tadge was the convener of this event and along with Dr Neetu Paliwal, Dean, Faculty of Science and Dr Sangeeta Jauhari, Research Cell Coordinator, Dr Ray and Dr Tadge have organised this session, which helped the students to gain strong foothold in research and innovation. They also got an opportunity to visit IIT Bombay labs and for the discussion with IIT Bombay students and faculties to enrich their knowledge related to innovation, technology transfer and IPR.
