Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has frequently been sporting a thick bearded look in his recent films, so much so that he says has forgotten what it feels like to feel a normal face. Big B was recently seen sporting a beard in Thugs Of Hindostan, and will again repeat the look in the upcoming films, Chehre and Gulabo Sitabo. “The beard brigade has, I notice, been around for three films now in immediate repetition to the face... Thugs Of Hindostan, Chehre and now Gulabo Sitabo. I have almost forgotten what it feels like to feel a normal face.” Amitabh wrote on his blog.
The 76-year-old thespian says he fears pulling the hair of his fake beard. “There is a subconscious holding back when touching the face for fear or pulling the hair of fake beard or nose or whatever prosthetics there are and destroying them. Normalcy has been put away and the feel for the original absconds,” he said, adding: “Unfortunately all the films to come are also in the similar category. Change the face, put on prosthetics, put hair... It’s like its a must and a given now.” Amitabh Bachchan does not mind using prosthetics for a role, but says using it for long gets tiring. “As the days pass by the comfort in the portrayal gets to be in an ease that shall be so needed in the final rendition... but yes the prosthetics take their pound of flesh, and to underestimate its after effects would be a fallacy,” Big B wrote.
“In the land of the large movie making industry in the West, there are rules that using prosthetics by law cannot be kept on for more than three days... a break for the face for a day or two before going at it again... But here, it is non-stop one month... was the same with Paa.. no complaints... it’s just that the bearing shall become tough as the days go by,” said the cine icon.
But Amitabh says he needs to feel normal now. “Well, I have news for these makers. No more. I need to feel normal!” The iconic actor is currently shooting for his upcoming release, Gulabo Sitabo, along with Ayushmann Khurrana. Gulabo Sitabo --- a legendary pair of puppet sisters --- have been part of Uttar Pradesh folklore. The film, a comedy, apparently, is a take-off on these two characters.
