‘Mah will soon be known as Harit Rajya’

Mega tree plantation drive launched at Anandwan n Forest Department will now adopt ‘Miyawaki’ system to create dense forests in the metropolis 
 
“The Government had taken decision to make State Harit Rajya (Green Maharashtra) with the initiative of Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar four years back. And, the vision of planting 50 crore saplings in Maharashtra is going to be a reality. The mega drive of planting 33 crore saplings in the State from July 1 is a step towards fulfilling the target. The plantation of 50 crore trees will be a record in the country,” pointed out Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was interacting with the mediapersons after planting a tree to launch the mega plantation drive at Anandwan in Warora on Monday.
 
At around 9 am, CM Devendra Fadnavis reached Majra village near Anandwan through a chopper. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar launched the three-month-long (July to September) mega plantation drive by planting a sapling at Anandwan on Monday morning. Gavin Chay, Consul General, Singapore, Yaakov Finktlstein, Consul General, Israel, Robert Poulson, Vice-Consul General, USA, Chandansingh Chandel, Chairman of FDCM, Ashok Nete, MP, Kirti alias Bunty Bhangdiya, MLA, Adv Sanjay Dhote, MLA, Nana Shamkule, MLA, Prakash Amte, Sheetal Amte, Shobhatai Fadnavis, Deorao Bhongle, President of ZP, Chandrapur, Anjali Ghotekar, Mayor of Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, Sanjay Deotale and others were present on the occasion. Further, the CM informed that the State Government has taken necessary measures to ensure transparency by tracking each and every sapling planted during this drive. “We have taken decision this year to launch plantation drive at Anandwan. Baba Amte had formed Anandwan by with specially abled people to support them. With this good thought we wanted to initiate the drive. And, we are confident that Maharashtra will be now onwards known as Harit Rajya (Green Maharashtra) after the project,” said CM Fadnavis. Earlier, Sudhir Mungantiwar in his speech said Anandwan is a laboratory and it is a great institution that teaches human values.
 
Education for the protection of the Earth will now be given to Maharashtra from Anandwan, said the Forest Minister. Mungantiwar thanked Union Minister Sanjay Dhotre for releasing the first cover stamp of tree plantation on Monday. The Forest Department will now adopt ‘Miyawaki’ system to create dense forests in the metropolis. He also appealed to citizen to plant a sapling to save the environment. Total of 2.82 crore saplings were planted during first year as against the target of 2 crores in 2016. In year 2017, a total of 5.17 crore saplings were planted against the target of 4 crore of tree plantation. The year 2018 had the target of planting 13 crore tree and the State had succeeded in planting 15.17 crore tree. This year the target is 33 crore of tree plantation. Chandrapur district has been given the target of planting 1.67 crores trees during the drive. State Government has decided to adopt Japanese ‘Miyawaki’ plantation pattern for more dense green cover. The pattern has been successfully adopted by Forest Department and Social Forestry on pilot basis in Jalna, Aurangabad, Hingoli, Beed, Latur, Pune and Jalgaon districts during last two years. Similarly, Maharogi Seva Samiti of Anandwan too has developed dense green cover by adopting ‘Miyawaki’ pattern of plantation. Hence it has been decided to undertake Atal Anandwan Ghan Van project at Anandwan in Warora. Guidelines to implement the Atal Anadwan Ghan Van project in Urban and rural area have been issued based on the climate of state, local atmosphere, average rainfall and availability of water.
 
Art works of leprosy patients impress CM

Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar were all praised for the beautiful and artistic articles created by the leprosy patients of Anandwan. The ministers were at Anandwan to inaugurate Vanmahostav and plantation of 33 crore saplings on Monday. An exhibition was also organised at Anandwan where entire projects run by the sanstha could be inspected at a glance. Seeing various projects, the ministers were compelled to visit a stall of wooden art. A leprosy patient explained him about articles. Decorative wooden carvings and other art works made from bamboo were appreciated by the Chief Minister. He could not resist himself from sitting sit on the wooden chair displayed at the expo. ‘Wow very comfortable! I would like to sit on it!’, exclaimed the CM. Then the convoy proceeded towards Shradhawan where the ministers offered tribute to late Baba Amte and Sadhanatai Amte. Earlier, they planted a saplings as per ‘Miyawaki’ method at Anandwan area.
