Bawankule inaugurates plantation drive in city

Nagpur city joined the State in the massive 33 crore tree plantation drive on Monday. The drive in the city was launched at the hands of Chandrashekhar Bawankule, In-charge Minister for Nagpur district at Water Treatment Plant, Mihan, Wardha Road, in presence of Nanda Jichkar, the Mayor. Forest Department and Maharashtra Airport Development Company jointly organised the programme. Bawankule planted a seedling and performed pujan to mark inauguration of the ambitious programme. On the occasion, he flagged off two mobile centres for selling saplings in the interest of citizens.
 
The minister also gave away a cheque for Rs 51,000 to the office-bearers of Joint Forest Management Committee, Mohagaon Banjadi, for being chosen first in the district for Sant Tukaram Scheme. He also handed over a cheque for Rs 31,000 to the office-bearers of Takadi JFM Committee as second prize as well gave away saplings to two beneficiaries under Kanya Van Samruddhi Scheme. Bawankule and Jichkar appealed to the citizens to plant saplings and nurse them on large-scale. P Kalyankular, Chief Conservator of Forest, made introductory remarks.
 
Ashwin Mudgal, District Collector, Sanjay Yadav, Chief Executive Officer, Nagpur Zilla Parishad, Sanjeev Gaur, Addl Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, A P Giripunje, Chief Conservator of Forest, S V Chahande, Technical Advisor, Maharashtra Airport Development Company, Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, Deputy Conservator of Forest, representatives of NGOs, students, officers and citizens were present. Geeta Nannaware proposed a vote of thanks. Later, Vikas Kharage, Principal Secretary, Forest, held a review meeting for activities taken up for 50 crore tree plantation programme in Command Control Room. He congratulated forest officers for making proper planning and undertaking activities. Umesh Kumar Agrawal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Head of Forest Force), Praveen Srivastava, M K Rao, G Saiprakash, all PCCFs, Maheep Gupta, Shailesh Tembhurnikar, Vikas Gupta, all APCCFs, and others were present.
