DGP Singh worried over youths taking to crime

The DGP was on a visit to Jabalpur when he interacted with mediapersons 
 
“Inclusion of migrated unemployed youngsters in organised crime is a matter of serious concern. Efforts should be made to change the criminal mindset of youngsters and mould them towards constructive works for long term goals. Increasing fatality of youngsters in road accidents is another serious issue as numbers of accidental deaths is seven per cent higher than murder incidents in Madhya Pradesh,” said V K Singh (IPS), Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh. He was interacting with media during his visit to the city, on Tuesday. DGP V K Singh congratulated Jabalpur police for registering a significant drop in crime graph. Strictness of police against criminals during Assembly and Parliamentary elections led to curb crime graph even after the elections. Use of firearms has been curtailed and crime against women has been controlled in the State.
 
Police has started campaign to check crime against minor girls by sensitizing girls and parents for better protection of girls which is proving fruitful. He said that amidst the fast lifestyle and changing modus operandi in high tech crime, policemen are facing huge pressure due to limited resources and manpower. There is a need of making efforts for stress management for policemen to improve their performance. Housing arrangement for policemen has been improved which will definitely reflect their performance. Senior police officers have been directed to review discipline at police stations and police lines. Police can never work without discipline and team work.
 
Replying to a query, DGP Singh said that technological adaptation has changed the modus operandi of crime cases but police are well equipped and skilled and a step ahead from the offenders. Social media monitoring centres have been established to take prompt action in case of communal disturbance. He said that conviction rate in sensitive crime cases is better than other states in Madhya Pradesh. He informed that Naxal movement has been reported in Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori districts in MP.
 
Necessary measures are being taken place to restrict the expansion of Naxal movement in other districts. It has been noticed that several crime cases are planed by prisoners in jail. Officers have been directed to maintain better coordination with jail authorities. Officers have been directed to monitor the activities of criminals after releasing from jail to avoid repetition of their crime activities.
