Armenian Prime Minister takes brief stop-over at Nagpur airport

Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and his wife Anna Hakobyan along with a high-level delegation of the Republic of Armenia took a brief stop-over at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport here on Thursday while on their way to Hanoi (Vietnam). Ashwin Mudgal, District Collector of Nagpur; Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay, Commissioner of Police; Shirish Pande, Deputy Collector, welcomed the Armenian Prime Minister and his wife with a bouquet. Mudgal also had a brief interaction with the delegation.
 
He told Pashinyan about the significance of Nagpur and opportunities it offered. Pashinyan and Hakobyan were accompanied by Avet Adonts, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia; Hakob Arshakyan, First Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies; and other top officers. Pashinyan headed Yelk parliamentary faction in National Assembly of Armenia since 2017.
 
He was elected Prime Minister by National Assembly on May 8, 2018 at the request of Popular Movement. In October 2018, he resigned from the post in anticipation of snap parliamentary elections. In December 2018, the alliance won around 70 per cent of votes polled in parliamentary elections. On January 14, 2019, Pashinyan was appointed to the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
