HC seeks report on appointment of docs, teachers, other staff at BMHRC

IN THE matter related to Bhopal Gas Tragedy, division bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice R S Jha and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla on Friday directed the Union of India and State Government of Madhya Pradesh to submit a complete status report before the court regarding appointment of doctors, teaching staff and other staff members at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC). The division bench has given six weeks time to respondents for compliance.
 

 
 
The division bench has listed the matter on August 19, 2019. Bunch of petitions filed by Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Udyog Sangathan and others were heard by the court.
 
In previous hearing of the matter, respondent Union of India had submitted a report, according to which, recruitment process for appointment of doctors, teaching staff and other staff members at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre is being undertaken from April 1 to April 5, 2019.
 
It is informed that for three posts namely Assistant Professor, Radiology; Assistant Professor, GI Medicine; and Assistant Professor, Nephrology, no application has been received and therefore no interview for the posts are being undertaken in present recruitment process and those posts shall be re-advertised. It has been submitted that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare in its 111th report dated on December 28, 2018, has recommended merger of BMHRC with AIIMS, Bhopal, and has directed the Department of Health and Family Welfare to draw necessary action for that purpose.
