Justice Trivedi spoke at length about the Committee’s efforts to ensure proper implementation of Urban Solid Waste Management Rule 2016, Bio-medical Waste Management Rule 2016, Waste Plastic Management Rule 2016, Construction and Demolition Rule 2016, Water Conservation and to check pollution in rivers. He added that after receiving complaints regarding violation of any of the above rules, the Committee will direct the departments concerned to take action on the same. If the department fails to come up with a satisfactory solution within 7 days. The report will be dispatched to National Green Tribunal which is a specialised agency equipped with necessary expertise to handle environmental disputes involving multi-disciplinary issues. Citing examples of previous cases of violation of rules redressed by the National Green Tribunal, he appealed to the public to come forward and take a stand by complaining against such violations to the Tribunal via e-mail at [email protected] and send a copy to the Committee’s Secretary on [email protected]. Identity of the complainant will not be disclosed. Retired District Judge and Secretary to Chairperson, Justice S N Khare and Dr S K Khare, Scientist, MP Pollution Control Board were also present.
