Leaders call for expanding membership base of BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched its membership drive across the country on Saturday. In city, various programmes were held to mark the launch. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister, said that the party workers were strong and they should work to expand the membership base of the party in the city. Gadkari launched the membership drive in a programme held at Ganga Celebration Hall in East Nagpur, by registering himself as a member from Booth No 220, Gadkari Wada Road, Mahal. Ramdas Ambatkar, MLC, handed over the membership certificate to Gadkari. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur district; Pravin Datke, BJP city chief; Nanda Jichkar, Mayor; Krishna Khopde and Sudhakar Kohale, MLAs; Prof Anil Sole and Girish Vyas, MLCs; Mahendra Raut also were present on the dais. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Union Minister for MSMEs said that he had won Lok Sabha election from Nagpur for the second consecutive term only because of the strong network of party workers.
 
From East Nagpur, he said, he had secured lead of over one lakh votes. “Now, the workers should ensure that Krishna Khopde, sitting MLA from East Nagpur, also wins Assembly elections by a margin of over one lakh,” he said. He appealed to the workers to reach out to workers of rival political parties, strike a dialogue with them, and work to make them members of BJP. Datke, Bawankule, Ambatkar and others also spoke on the occasion. Ambatkar said that people could become members of BJP by way of giving a missed call to the number 8980808080.
 
Gadkari felicitated booth-level and prabhag-level in-charges of the party. Pradeep Pohane, Chairman of Standing Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC); Subhash Pardhi, Kishor Palandurkar, Bhojraj Dumbe, Pramod Pendke, Adv Dharmapal Meshram, Chetana Tank, Ram Ambulkar, Devendra Katolkar, Setram Selokar, Devendra Mehar, Meghraj Menani, Chandan Goswami, Sanjay Awchat also were present on the occasion. Dr Sanjay Kute, Labour Minister, graced another programme at Sant Ravidas Hall, Somwari Quarters, in South Nagpur. Sudhakar Kohale, MLA; Pravin Datke, BJP city chief; Sandip Joshi, Ruling Party Leader in NMC also shared the dais on the occasion. In his speech, Dr Kute appealed to the workers to enroll at least 50 lakh new members of the party in Maharashtra.
 
In South Nagpur also, he said, workers should strive to enroll maximum number of members of BJP. Kohale said that the workers would work hard to register one lakh new members in South Nagpur constituency alone. Sanjay Thakre, Sunil Manekar, Vilas Karangale, Prashant Kamdi, Kishor Pethe, several corporators including Divya Dhurde, Vijay Zalke, Swati Akhatkar, Nagesh Sahare, Rita Muley, Snehal Biare, Usha Palet, Dr Ravindra Bhoyar, Sheetal Kamde, Satish Holay, Abhay Gotekar, Rupali Thakur, Kalpana Kumbhalkar, Deepak Chaudhary, Vandana Bhagat, Bharati Bunde, Vishakha Bate, Mangala Khekare, Madhuri Thakre, Nagesh Mankar, Rajendra Sonkusare and others were present prominently.
