NIA to take over Jambhulkheda landmine blast investigation

NCP taluka chief arrested, gets PCR till 13th n Number of those arrested in the case reaches 8
 
 
IN A significant development, the Union Government has ordered Gadchiroli Police to hand-over the investigation of Jambhulkheda landmine blast that had claimed lives of 15 policemen and a driver, to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Confirming the report, Gadchiroli SP Shailesh Balkawade, said that his department had received the orders, but it would take a couple of days’ time to actually hand over the case. Meanwhile, quite a sensation prevailed in the political circles following arrest of Kailash Premchand Ramchandani (34), the Taluka President of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), in connection with the blast. With his arrest, the number of persons arrested in the case has gone up to eight. Kailash Ramchandani has been remanded to police custody till July 13.After the gruesome blast in Jambhulkheda, police started investigations in full swing.
 
During the course of investigation, they learnt about involvement of Kailash Ramchandani with the Naxals who were responsible for the blast. Two senior Naxal cadres Narmadakka and her husband Kiran Kumar were also arrested earlier in this case. Dilip Hidami, Parasram Tulawi, Somnath Madavi, Kisan Hidami and Sukru Gota are the other five accused arrested so far in the case.
 
Kailash Ramchandani is a resident of Kurkheda, a taluka place near Jambhulkheda, where the blast took place. He runs electrical appliances and electronics shop at Kurkheda and was working with the NCP for the last several years. Very recently he was appointed as the Taluka President of the party. Further investigation in this regard are underway.
