Shekhawat inaugurates dam on Gour river

“State President of Bharatiya Janata Party and Member of Parliament Rakesh Singh has materialised the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring public participation in water conservation. His unique initiative proved as a model of rain water harvesting through public participation in the country”, said Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Jal Shakti. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the Gabion Boulder Dam on Gour river in Padwar village, Barela by unveiling the plaque, on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shekhawat lauded the initiative of Rakesh Singh, public representatives and residents of Padwar village for construction of stop dam on the river on their own efforts. The small project has set a perfect example of public participation to start nationwide movement for water conservation.
 
Special guest on the occasion, Environmentalist Padma Shri Mahesh Sharma said that the unique initiative of MP Rakesh Singh is the perfect example of public participation and shown a way to make water conservation as public movement. This small effort will definitely turn-up as a big public movement for a noble cause. BJP, State President and MP, Rakesh Singh expressed gratitude towards Union Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Padamshri Mahesh Sharma for their valuable presence and encouraging the residents for water conservation. He said that construction of stop dam on Gour river is an effort to encourage people for water conservation.
 
He informed that he initiated water conservation campaign in the year 2011 through different sources to sensitize the society to shoulder responsibility of water conservation to avoid water scarcity in future. He added that Madhya Pradesh registered good rainfall every year and has dense network of rivers but depleting water level in river Narmada is a serious concern. This problem is increasing due to dependence on Government but public are yet to come forward to shoulder their responsibility. He extended appeal towards residents to join the campaign to provide a better future to their coming generations.
 
Union Minister, Shekhawat, BJP State President, Rakesh Singh and other public representatives planted 25 saplings near Gaumukh. On the occasion, BJP Rural President, Om Prakash Patel, City President, G S Thakur, Jila Panchayat, President, Manorama Patel, Mayor Dr Swati Godbole, MLA Ashok Rohani, MLA, Susheel Tiwari, MLA, Nandini Maravi, BJP State Media In-charge, Lokendra Parashar, Dr Jitendra Jamdar, former MLA Anchal Sonkar, Pratibha Singh and others were present.
