JASHPUR police registered an FIR against BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy for alleging that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi takes cocaine. Raising strong objection over the allegation, Jashpur district Congress President Pawan Agrawal lodged a complaint with Patthalgaon police station. According to police sources, in his complaint, the Congress leader termed the alleged statement as baseless and a deliberate move to malign the image of Gandhi.

The leader also mentioned that Subramanian Swamy’s statement can encourage enmity between political parties and provoke people. Such a statement can disturb peace among people Following the complaint of Agrawal, Patthalgaon police registered FIR against Subramanian Swamy under Sections 504. 505(2) and 511 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounts to the charge of intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes and punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment. Reacting to FIR registered by police here, Subramanian Swamy tweeted that “I am surprised that Chattisgarh Police has registered a FIR against me for allegedly saying that RG is a consumer of cocaine hence created disorder in Congress.

This FIR is stupid because the police did not do a Dope test to verify the truth.” In another tweet, Subramanian Swamy said that RG has said to media that 70 % of Punjab residents will fail the dope test. Now, Buddhu by the same reckoning will also fail the dope test? Notably, strongly condemning the statement of Subramanian Swamy, separate cells of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee including Youth Congress, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and others have filed complaint across State.
