MIHAN sees jump in exports to Rs 1,908 crore in 2018-19

By Ravi Chandpurkar : MIHAN a 100 per cent export oriented project is witnessing a surge in exports. The total exports from MIHAN has jumped to Rs 1,908 crore during the year 2018-19 as compared to Rs 1,112 crore worth of exports in 2017-18, a rise of 796 crore. This was revealed by S V Chahande, Chief Engineer and Advisor Technical of Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC) while speaking to The Hitavada.
 
The companies which are operational in MIHAN have made their mark regarding exports in the international market. The companies have adopted high standards and offer world-class products and services to some of the largest multinationals in the world. “The phenomenal rise in exports in 2018-19 is a major achievement. MADC is providing all the best possible support and infrastructure which helps these companies to achieve their objectives,” Chahande said. Currently there are 42 export oriented units which are operational in MIHAN. MIHAN is providing direct employment to 18,000 employees and indirect employment to a large number of people.
 
The major companies contributing to the exports are from the aviation, IT and pharma sectors, he said. “MIHAN is a market driven project. Investments to MIHAN depend on economic conditions in the international market. Apart from this, Indian Governments relationship with foreign countries also plays an important role in attracting investments,” he further said. In MIHAN the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) had attracted investments of Rs 5,000 crore and area outside of SEZ has an investment of around Rs 800 crore, he said. MIHAN offers a industry friendly environment due to which companies in the project area are flourishing. MIHAN is strategically connected to all major cities by air, road and rail. The existing Nagpur International Airport namely Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at Nagpur is being developed at a fast pace.
 
Nagpur International Airport will have two important segments like passenger and cargo and is expected to handle about 1.4 crore passengers and 8.7 lakh ton of cargo, he added. Most of the companies in MIHAN-SEZ are growing at phenomenal speed and expanding their operations by acquiring more land. “MIHAN is an ideal location offering ample land, infrastructure and tax incentives,” Chahande said. Some of the well-known units in MIHAN are Air India MRO, Dassault Reliance Aerostructure Ltd (DRAL), TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd, AAR Indamer Technics MRO and Thales Defence, Turgis Et Gaillard a France based aerospace company, CONCOR, Future Supply Chain, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Global Logic, Ebix, Infocepts, Info Datalogy, Lupin Pharma, Zim Laboratories and Arco Lifescience. In food processing sector there are companies like Kanav Agronomy, Diet Food International, Pravesh Exports and Patanjali Food and Herbal Park among others he added.
