Finally, Kuthiala appears before EOW

Finally, former Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, B K Kuthiala turned up before the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in State capital on Friday. EOW officers are interrogating him in connection with various irregularities happened during his tenure.
 
 
It was around 12.30 pm that Kuthiala reached EOW office. The EOW officers took him inside and started to interrogate Kuthiala. Armed with questionnaire of around 1,000 questions, investigating officers are grilling Kuthiala, who had some days back appeared before Special Court with the request to quash action under Section 82. When Kuthiala reached EOW office, he looked perturbed. Sources inside EOW office told that even in air conditioned room, Kuthiala was sweating.
 
 
Later during evening hours, DG EOW K N Tiwari spoke to waiting mediapersons and told that it was since April that Kuthiala was being summoned to appear before the investigating agency. And it was on Friday that Kuthiala finally appeared before the EOW. Now he is being interrogated in connection with alleged irregularities happened during his eight-year tenure.
 
 
When asked that whether Kuthiala is co-operating in interrogation, he said that Kuthiala is answering some questions. On being asked that how long interrogation of Kuthiala may last, he told that there is a bunch of questions which Kuthiala needs to answer, hence, there is possibility that Kuthiala’s interrogation may continue to two to three days. However, Kuthiala will not be arrested as he is having stay order against the arrest till next order of Apex Court. Notably, Kuthiala earlier evaded from appearing before EOW and in his search EOW have reached till his home and office in Haryana.
 
 
Kuthiala is facing various charges including irregularities in appointments and increasing the cost of construct of under construction building of MCU, irregularities in opening study centers etc. Sources also said that as the matter is in Special Court hence EOW will submit a factual report on appearance of Kuthiala before Special Court. Had Kuthiala not appeared before it by August 31, EOW was planning to move an application before Special Court to attach his properties.
