BMC identifies 9 ghats for Ganesh idols’ immersion

With water bodies filled to the brim, this time Bhopal Municipal Corporation is doing special efforts to ensure proper preparations of immersion sites to avert any unkind incidents. The BMC officials have also been directed to ensure regulated flow of crowd in the immersion sites. With puja season coming around the corner BMC is also gearing up to appoint nodal officers for in charge of immersion sites. They will also be responsible to ensure collection of puja waste materials from immersion ghats to the waste collection centre through Sanchayani vehicles. Special vehicles ‘Sanchyani’ will be deployed to carry green waste to the required sites so that it can be converted into useful products.
 
The vehicle will carry all kinds of green waste from Ganesha puja pandals to the collection centres. BMC will also award Swacchh Ganesha pandals which does all the compliance with ecofriendly activities and comes with attractive innovative ways for puja celebration. Cash rewards have also be announced for Ganesha pandals. A cash reward of Rs 52,000 will be given to first prize winner, second and third prize winners will received Rs 11,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
 
The immersion sites allocated for Ganesha immersion includes Intkhedi, Hatahikheda, Khatlapura, Shahpura, Kaliyasot, Prempura, Rani Kamlapati. BMC will also ensure and deploy the life savers at the Ghat and to arrange proper security facilities at the Ghat. An total of nine areas have been identified for immersion of idols. At immersion sites divers will also be deployed in order to counter any adverse or unfortunate incidents and fire brigade will also be stationed. Barricades will also be placed in certain areas so as to prohibit public from going near water, ponds and lakes.
 
These precautions are being taken considering monsoon activity in the area. Fire safety squad will be there at Sehore Naka, Dhobighaat, Khatlapura, Kalighat, Talaiyya, Hatahikheda, Shahpura, Intkhedi, Malikhedi, Hatahikheda etc. Fire brigade will also be deployed at TT Nagar Dussehra Maidan, Sant Hridaram Nagar, Naveri Mandir, Lalghat, Bittan Market, Laharpur, Ashok Garden. Special bins will be placed only to collect waste puja materials . Such bins will be seen in front of temples and in colonies where people can dump their puja related waste from houses also. This is done to streamline religious waste management in city. The flowers and other items will be used in incense stick factory.
