3-day ‘International Buyers-Sellers Meet’ from 20th

IN ORDER to develop business activities and branding of produce from Chhattisgarh and creating awareness at national and international level, Chhattisgarh State Agriculture Produce Mandi Board will organise a three-day ‘International Buyers-Sellers Meet’ here at Hotel Sayaji from September 20. MoUs, agreement etc will be signed on September 20 and 21. India’s Master Chef Pankaj Bhaduria will be specially present and prepare traditional Chhattisgarhi recipes on the occasion. Around 60 international-level sellers from 16 countries along with about 60 sellers from different States and 120 local traders are expected to participate in the buyers-sellers meet. Detailed interaction session will be held with the sellers-buyers related with farming, weaving and forest produce collection.
The Self Help Groups and Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) will get a single platform to exhibit and also sell their products to the national and international buyers on the occasion. Agriculture and WRD Minister Ravindra Choubey said “Chhattisgarh has in abundance special quality produce mainly food grains, oilseeds, forest produce, vegetables, handloom items, kosa, silks etc. The locals who are involved with these items do not get direct market to sell their produce or products. Thus, the three-day meet is a small beginning for them to reach out to the international market”.
The local sellers will get opportunity to directly interact with the buyers and sell their items instead of depending on middlemen, the minister added. The State has plenty of natural resources like forest, minerals, water, agriculture etc and being available in different areas also has abundance of bio diversity. Around 44 per cent State has forest cover which provides huge quantity of forest produce, medicinal plants and aromatic trees which are in great demand. Thus, the national as well as international platform at the buyers-sellers meet will provide opportunity to directly get in touch with the buyers as well as sellers and also get better return for the products.
