MSEDCL starts power distribution in 3 ‘new’ sub-divisions

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) formally took the control of three sub-divisions, Mahal, Gandhibagh and Civil Lines, amidst high expectations and warm reactions from Nagpurians. Director (Operations) Dineshchandra Sabu along with Chief Engineer, Nagpur Urban Circle, Dilip Ghugal, took round of three sub-divisions and interacted with the staff. He also took stock of the situation on the ground.
 
From Monday, MSEDCL began work in full earnest whereby it took over 24 sub-stations and 11 switching centres spread over nearly two thirds of geographic area of the city. Each of the Zone will be headed by Executive Engineer and will have one Additional Executive Engineers while Assistant Engineers would man Section Offices.
 
In all 47 engineers are deployed for overseeing the power distribution network, and 105 operators for supervision and manning the sub-stations and switching centres also reported on job. Each of the sub-station and switching centre will have one operator on duty in a shift, said spokesman of MSEDCL. At zero hours on Monday, records of a crossover feeder with input meters from 87 feeders from 33 KV and 11 KV sub-stations, including four sub-stations of Mankapur, Uppalwadi, Besa and Pardi, were taken. Superintending Engineer of Urban Circle, Dilip Dodke, along with technical, information technology and accounting and finance department officials, visited Mankapur, Katol Road, Seminary Hill, Chapru Nagar, Tulshibagh and other areas.
 
Sabu also visited Section Offices, Consumer Convenience Center, Control Room, Sub-station and New Service Connection Center and discuss requirement with the staff there. He instructed them to review the facilities available at this place and if any improvement is required, then inform about the same. Sabu directed ground staff to build sheds on distribution transformers, adopt GIS technology in the Seminary Hills sub-station. He asked them a proposal for required infrastructure for paid pending connections. “Special stress be laid on customer service, water and seating arrangements be made for customers coming to offices and at bill paying centers,” added Sabu.
 
Cash counters started MSEDCL also took over 48 cash counters that were opened by Spanco Nagpur Discom Limited (SNDL), the erstwhile distribution franchisee. Of the 48 counters, 43 started functioning and remaining will start very soon. Plaints reviewed Senior officers of MSEDCL reviewed complaints filed by customers. According to the officers, the complaints were found to be below average. Only 300 complaints about power outage were received since 12 midnight against average 500 recorded by SNDL, the unit of M/s Essel Group.
