Metro bus operation in shadow of fear

Metro bus operators, drivers and conductors are resenting the carelessness of Bus Stand Chowki and Madan Mahal Police Station staff towards their complaints related to safety and security staged demonstration at SP Office, on Monday. The metro bus operators, field staff handing over memorandum at SP Office apprised that on Sunday evening when a Metro Bus conductor was proceeding to deposit cash at old Bus Stand office, he was stopped by three youths and on the tip of sharp knife,looted of Rs 500 along with a gold ring and gold chain, on Sunday evening.
After the incident,the youths fled from the spot. According to the information, an employee of Narmada Transport, a contractor to the Jabalpur City Transport Private Limited, Jabalpur identified as Sandeep Rajak while after parking the bus when he was going to deposit cash in depot, he was stopped and surrounded by three youths and on the tip of sharp edge weapon were demanding money from him. On resisting two of the them have forcefully snatched cash while also looted Gold Chain and Ring. Thereafter he went to Bus-stand Chowki where the staff have not given due assistance and did not given responsible answer. On Monday morning when the Metro Bus drivers and conductors have assembled and started strike against the unsupportive attitude of Bus Stand Chowki and Madan Mahal Police Staff.
The group also staged demonstration at SP Office demanding safety and security in the metro bus depot so that entry of anti-social elements should be stopped completely. JCTPL, CEO, Sachin Vishwakarma said that such incidents are taking place at the Bus Stand depot. The information of which is being given to police. Near the old bus stand Metro Bus Depot a wine shop and aahta is also situated due to which anti-social elements presence in this premises could not be ruled out. He said he would take the issue of safety and security of employees before the Superintendent of Police so that such incident may not take place.
