Muslims observe ‘Matam’, hold procession on Moharram

Mourning procession was taken out by Muslim community from Somwara, Imami Gate and VIP Road areas on Moharram in the State capital on Tuesday. This procession is taken out to mark the 10th day of Islamic month of ‘Ashoora’ and Moharram is observed as day of mourning for Muslims. A large number of youths and elderly persons of the community participated in the procession.
 
They observed mourn for Imam Hussain who was grandson of Prophet Mohammed and died battling in Karbala. Muslim community people observe ‘Matam’. Police personnel kept tight vigil at most of the places in the city during procession via Somwara, Imami Gate, Peer Gate, VIP Road up to Karbala, and immersed Tazia in old city.
