3,000 cops in bandobast for Ganesh ‘visarjan’

More than 3,000 police personnel will be deployed in the city during Ganesh idol immersion on Thursday. Along with additional CCTV cameras, the cops will also take help of drone cameras to supervise the bandobast. Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar informed reporters in a press conference that immersion of Sarvajanik Ganpati would take place at 10 places in the city between Wednesday and Sunday. However, major Ganesh idol immersions will be allowed only at Futala lake where a large number of police personnel will be deployed.
 
A watchtower has been erected at the lake side. Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr B K Upadhyaya on Wednesday visited the spot and took a review of arrangements. The police have divided the route of ‘Visarjan’ in 12 sectors and each sector would be supervised by senior rank officials. Nine Deputy Commissioner of Police, 14 Assistant Commissioner of Police, 87 Police Inspectors, 164 Assistant Police Inspectors/PSI, 1614 police personnel, 370 women police personnel, 66 homeguards and a section of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) will be deployed for peaceful festivity.
 
The police have also constituted separate teams to vigil at sensitive places and history-sheeter goons. Four special squads and Quick Response Team (QRT) and SRPF will be stationed at Police Controll Room to immediately respond any eventuality. Dy Commissioner of Polcie (DCP) Traffic Chinmay Pandit and DCP Zone II Vinata Sahu were present. Movement of vehicles will not be allowed towards Futala lake from Telangkhedi Hanuman temple and Vayusena Nagar.
