“General Manager of West Central Railway is neglecting demands of 54,000 employees and overlooking organisation of Permanent Negotiation Machinery (PNM). Not only employees but officers in WCR are also annoyed with ignorant working of the General Manager. Even after giving several representatives, WCR GM is yet to take any initiative and consider demands of employees. Now, employees have given three days ultimatum to hear and solve their demands, thereafter a massive protest will be staged at zonal railway headquarters,” declared by Dr R P Bhatnagar, President of West Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh (WCRMS), while addressing a press conference on Wednesday. Dr R P Bhatnagar said, “For the first time in my 55 years’ service in trade union I have experienced such insensitive working of any Railway General Manager towards railway employees.”

Dr Bhatnagar said that PNM is best platform of maintaining industrial relations and co-ordination between officers and employees and to hear and address demands of employees. General Manager is President of PNM and its meeting is organised every quarterly but the meeting could not be organised in Jabalpur Zone since several months.

He informed that even after a large number of vacant posts and increasing workload, around 54,000 Railway employees are rendering their best services for smooth operation of Railway services. WCRMS General Secretary Ashok Sharma informed that they had submitted a memorandum to the General Manager on August 16 but could not get any reply on their demand. In order to register protest against WCR GM, they organised a Sadbuddhi Yagya to raise their 21-points demands before Railway authorities, on Wednesday.
