HELPING HAND

EVEN as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) mounts its last-ditch efforts to establish communication with moonlander Vikram that is in a tilted position on the south pole of Moon, a helping hand has come from America’s premier space agency the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA). The collaborated efforts to contact the Lander underscore the huge magnitude of ISRO’s achievement. By choosing the hitherto unexplored south pole of the Moon, ISRO had made a bold attempt that has been acknowledged by the world with open heart. NASA was at the forefront to hail ISRO’s efforts and it also recognises the importance of propelling the Vikram Lander for further critical study of the Moon’s surface. Space is not any country’s territory and most of the missions carried out by ISRO are for the welfare of larger human society. NASA’s decision to join ISRO in reviving Vikram is a testimony to India’s giant leap in space technology. The same agency was skeptical a few years ago over ISRO’s capabilities. The inhabitations have gone for the larger good.
