Lord Ganesha idol immersion continues

Day after the religious occasion of “Anant Chaturdashi”, the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols continued on Friday too in the state capital.
A number of Lord Ganesha idols were carried out from thoroughfares of city for immersion. The statues were immersed with traditional fervour on the next day of concluding day of Lord Ganesha festival “Anant Chaturdashi”. City witnessed heavy rush in the city areas as huge beautiful Ganesha idols were carried for the immersion thoroughfares of the city. There was strict security of police force and traffic police deployed by the district administration to avoid any kind of nuisances.
After the sad incident happened at intervening night of Friday, people were more alert while immersion. Besides, tighten police security was provided at all the immersion venues by the administration.
The idols which were left for the immersion were immersed on the day. Huge idols were carried through cranes in water for immersion. Immersions were done at Kamla Park Ghat, Prempura Ghat, Shahpura Lake, Khatlapura Ghat, etc. Areas including Ganesh Chowk, Sawarkar Chowk, Lakherapura, Peergate, Sindhi Market, Jawahar Chowk, Chote Bhaiya square, Loha market, Sarafa Chowk, Ganesh Chowk and other areas witness traditional fervour.
At the same time, the Ghats and other water resources were filled with lot of garbage, flowers and other materials which were offered during puja and religious ceremonies. Small kiosks which were set up for immersion of idols at different localities seem failing in reducing the crowd of people at main locations including Khatlapura Ghat, Kamlapati
Ghat, etc.
Devotees sought blessings from elephant-headed deity for happiness and prosperous life. Mahaarti was performed along with prasad offered to the devotees. Anant Chaturdashi was celebrated on Thursday as it was the last day of the Hindu festival of Ganeshotsava where Ganesha idols were immersed in the nearby lakes and water resources. Devotees marked the end of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ raising chants ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’, ‘Agle Baras Tu jaldi Aa’.
