Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that the Congress led state government after indulging in the SIT conspiracy which led to its miserable loss in Lok Sabha elections this year, it has now embarked with the conspiracy of Section 164 CrPC, which will ensure its loss in Dantewada by-election. Addressing a joint press conference on Saturday at Ekatma Parisar, BJP Legislative Party Leader Dharamlal Kaushik, State President Vikram Usendi, former Ministers duo Brijmohan Agrawal and Rajesh Munat along with State Spokesperson Sachidanand Upasne, said eyeing the ongoing by-election in Antagarh, the ruling Congress is trying its level best to malign the image of senior BJP leaders by releasing concocted statements by accused persons, which the party criticizes severely.

The BJP leaders led by Kaushik, stated that under the then Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, the then BJP government had carried out remarkable work in PDS and virtually sealed the leakages in the system so as to ensure that food grains reached the poor. That was the reason why Dr Raman Singh was fondly known among people as ‘Chaurwale Baba’, both in the state and outside. The Chhattisgarh model of PDS was not only praised by the Apex Court but it became the model for implementation of Food Security Act in the country.

This not only arrested migration of people from Chhattisgarh but also checked dreaded diseases like gastroenteritis, diarrhea and hunger, which was common during erstwhile Congress rule. So far as PDS scam is concerned, when the scam came to light, the then Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh by taking cognizance, carried out detailed investigation and all accused in the case were brought to books. The then BJP government didn’t protect any official or officials who were accused in PDS scam, said Kaushik. Now that the Congress is unable to digest the popularity of Dr Raman Singh and anticipating sure defeat in Dantewada bye-election, has come out with such baseless allegations for immoral political gains. Kaushik further added that the accused, who was twice jailed, once for one year and again for four years, by making public his affidavit, what kind of character is being shown by the Congress.

So far as affidavit of Shivshankar Bhatt is concerned, it doesn’t hold water because, he had earlier applied to get his so called statement recorded under Section 164 CrPC and the court gave him date of September 25, 2019 for recording his statement. However, since the polling of Dantewada bye-election is scheduled for September 23, the statement wouldn’t have been of any help for Congress if recorded on September 25, so dramatically the so called statement was made public in the form of affidavit. Adding that these statements either made by Manturam Pawar or by Shivshankar Bhatt doesn’t have any legal acceptance, Kaushik and other BJP leaders challenged the Congress that if it has so much faith on the merit of these statements, then Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel himself should prove these so called statements through an affidavit and then table the same in the court, as cases against Civil Supplies Scam is pending before Chhattisgarh High Court as well as in the designated Sessions Court in the capital. Congress which has failed to fulfill promises it had made in its manifesto neither it has got anything remarkable to convince people in Dantewada, it has stooped low to such tactics, said Kaushik while adding that the BJP is confident that people in Dantewada have already made up their minds and BJP will definitely win this elections with good margin.
