Beauty is the reflection of excellent physical and mental fitness. City-based doctor Dr Vartika Patil has proven this by winning the coveted title of ‘Mrs West Asia’ in a beauty pageant held recently at Pune. Aditi Govitrikar, Mrs World-2001, presented the crown of ‘Mrs West Asia’ to Dr Vartika Patil. Now, Dr Patil will be representing Nagpur in the upcoming Mrs Universe pageant scheduled to be held in China between December 22, 2019 and January 1, 2020. Speaking to ‘The Hitavada’, Dr Vartika Patil said that she attributed the credit for her success to God, her husband Dr Himanshu Patil, daughter Myra, in-laws, parents, and her mentors Anjana Mascarenhas and Karl Mascarenhas. Born and brought up in Nagpur, Dr Vartika Patil did her MBBS and then went to Mumbai for MD (Pathology).

She has done post-graduation in Hospital Administration and in Quality Management from Symbiosis, Pune. Also, she has done trainings of National Board of Accreditation for Hospitals and Healthcare. She is founder Chief Executive Officer of Dr Vartika’s Confidence Academy. About the pageants, Dr Vartika Patil said that it stemmed right from her MBBS days when she won many personality contests like Miss Sanjeevani, Miss Medico. After marriage, she won Mrs Maharashtra title, and was amongst Top 10 finalists in Mrs Gladrags. She also went for an International pageant in Greece last year where she bagged Mrs Stylish and the Most Beautiful Hair titles.

She has to her credit Mrs West India -- Empress of West India Crown too. According to Dr Vartika Patil, it is extremely important for women to get educated. For, education gives power of choice and enables one to choose life one wants to live. Being a homemaker or a professional or an entrepreneur should be completely a woman’s choice and not a compromise, she observed. She gives equal importance to academics and hobbies, as she feels that a balanced life is fulfilling. “My daughter’s smile every time I win a crown is priceless. She is my biggest motivation,” she added.

Her parents are engineers, in-laws are doctors, and her husband also is a doctor. Her parents never said ‘no’ to anything she wanted to pursue, but the only condition they had was that she should not compromise on her studies. “They felt that if something went wrong, one had one’s education to fall back on and start life afresh,” she said.
