MLA Masood, Collector felicitate Nitin Batham for saving lives

Swimmer Nitin Batham was felicitated by MLA Arif Masood and District Collector Tarun Pithode for saving eight youths during the ill fated boat capsize incident happened during Ganesh idol immersion at lower lake in dawn hours of Friday. Everyone praised the valour of Nitin Batham. Collector Tarun Pithode felicitated him with cash reward of Rs 50,000. He told that it is felicitation of courage shown by Nitin Batham during the tough time.
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, Collector Tarun Pithode told that administration is trying to employ Nitin Batham as diver on temporary basis. The felicitation prorgamme was held at collector office. On this occasion, DIG Irshad Wali was also present. Apart from this, Congress MLA Arif Masood also felicitated Nitin Batham for saving the precious eight lives during the boat capsize incident. He also felicitated some other youths for coming forward in rescue operations. He said Nitin Batham hails from Budhwara area and now lives in Cholla area. He gave shawl and cash reward of Rs 5,000 to them. Along with Nitin Batham, MLA Arif Masood also felicitated Sunil Ahirwar, Vishal Ahirwar and Rahul Ahirwar. Notably, when three boats capsized after immersion of Ganesh idol, all boat borne youths got drowned and started to go down into deep waters one by one.
At that time, Nitin Batham picked up a parked boat and sailed to the incident area. One by one, he picked up at least eight drowning youths and saved their lives. ‘The Hitavada’ had published this news on Friday. Notably, atleast nineteen youths have gone on three boats to immerse a huge Ganesh idol. As idol was big enough, hence two boats were fastened with each other and on then idol was kept. The balance of both tied boats got lost and they fell into deep waters. Eight of them were saved by Nitin Batham but eleven youths met the watery grave.
