CM Kamal Nath lays foundation of Rs 7,500 crore Metro Rail Project in Indore

Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday laid the foundation of the Metro Rail Project costing Rs 7500.80 crores in Indore. Nath said that the completion of this project will accelerate development in Indore. While performing bhoomipujan of the much-awaited Metro Rail Project, CM Nath said that ten years back when he was the Urban Development Minister at the Centre, he had granted approval for Bhopal and Indore Metro and had instructed the then government to make the DPR. Today, after ten years the Indore Metro Rail Project is going to start.
 
Nath said that with the activities of building, running and maintaining the project, employment opportunities will increase extensively in Indore and adjacent areas. This will not only reduce road accidents but will also lessen pressure on traffic and the most reliable and secure public transport will be made available to the people. He said that the project will also ensure beautification of the city apart from reducing pollution. CM Nath said that expansion of cities and arrangement of public transport to facilitate people is the need of the hour. With this point of view the Metro is being started today. We will have to work on the increasing population of cities with fresh planning.
 
The Chief Minister said that co-operation of the government as well as the public is necessary in the expansion and development of cities. He said that cities like Noida and Gurugram were developed with this in mind. He said that Metro Rail Project is being started in Indore. In future, this project will be linked to Ujjain, Rau, Dewas and Dhar district. Metro Project at a glance. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Indore Rail Metro Project near the toll plaza on MR-10, Indore. The total length of this project will be 31.55 km. It will have 26 elevated stations and four underground stations. A total of 30 stations will be built under the project.
 
The time frame for its construction has also been fixed. The elevated section from Gandhi Nagar to Indore railway station will be completed by December 31, 2022 and the underground section from Indore railway station to Gandhinagar by July 31, 2023. The depot line will be completed by February 28, 2023 and the system line will be completed on August 31, 2023. The proposed route of the metro rail is from Bengali Square to Nainod, Bhanwarsala Square and Radisson Square. The foundation laying ceremony was also addressed by Public Works Minister Sajjan Singh Verma, Home Minister Bala Bachchan, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Tulsi Silavat, Higher Education Minister Jitu Patwari, Urban Development and Housing Minister Jaivardhan Singh and MP Shankar Lalwani. Chief Minister Nath dedicated the Sahkar app developed by the Indore Municipal Corporation to facilitate general public with the benefits of various schemes of the government. MLAs Ramesh Mendola, Vishal Patel and Sanjay Shukla were present.
