Kashikar, Shembekar of Ankur Seeds get VIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Recognising the contribution of Ankur Seeds Pvt. Ltd, Nagpur in progress of agriculture sector in the region, Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) on Saturday gave Lifetime Achievement Award to R M Kashikar, Chairman and M G Shembekar, Managing Director of the company. Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari; former Justice of Bombay High Court M N Gilani; VIA President Suresh Rathi; Chairman of Solar group of Industries Satyanarayan Nuwal; and Chief Marketing and Sales Tata Astrum Sanjay S Sahni presented the awards and mementos to the winners at the function held here at Hotel Centre Point. Remembering the hard work and dedication of both the award recipients, Gadkari said that Kashikar and Shembekar succeeded in setting up the company from the scratch. “Both the entrepreneurs followed the thoughts of Founder of Shetkari Sanghatana Sharad Joshi and so did I.
 
Kashikar and Shembekar are determined to uplift farmers. That’s what is needed today,” Gadkari said. Joshi often called farmers as entrepreneurs. Gadkari expressed great satisfaction over the award being conferred to a company engaged in agriculture sector. Gadkari highlighted that many corporate houses were coming forward to tap opportunities in agriculture sector. He urged VIA office-bearers to encourage entrepreneurs in agro-industries.
 
Replying to felicitation, Kashikar remembered his journey from a hawker selling newspapers at sub-stations to Chairman of Ankur Seeds. “We set up the unit with an aim to improve productivity of farmers. Moreover, we wanted to change lives of farmers of our country and never thought of exporting our produce,” he said.
