STF nabs quack possessing Pangolin scales

Police seized 12 scales of endangered specie Pangolin in a bag amounting to Rs 15 lakhs in the international market 
 
Special Task Force (STF), Jabalpur, nabbed a quack and seized scales of Pangolin amounting to Rs 15 lakh from him in Panna. The accused has been identified as Tapas Roy (48), a resident of Panna, and practicing as quack. Under the direction of Special Director General, Special Task Force, Madhya Pradesh, and State Cyber Police, STF Jabalpur started a special campaign against inter-state gangs of poachers under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police, Ashok Awasthi, STF, and Superintendent of Police, STF, Rajesh Bhadoria.
 
During the campaign, STF Jabalpur received information about a man involved in illegal trade of organs of wild animals in the international market in Panna district. Taking prompt action on the information, a team of STF Jabalpur reached at Panna district and started investigation into the case. Investigating the case, STF personnel trapped the suspected man when he was standing with a motorcycle at Diamond Square, Jagat Chowki. In his search, police seized 12 scales of endangered specie Pangolin in a bag amounting to Rs 15 lakhs in the international market. STF Jabalpur handed over the accused to Forest Department where a case under Section 126 of Wildlife Protect Act was registered and Forest Department started investigation to identify and apprehend other persons working in the network of poachers and traders. The accused was apprehended with active working of STF Jabalpur comprised of Inspector, Genesh Singh Thakur, ASI, Shailendra Soni, Constables, Nirmal Singh, Manish Tiwari, Neelesh Dubey, Harshvardhan and Dilawar Singh.
