3 Naxals killed in encounter in Sukma

SUKMA IN yet another blow to the Left Wing Extremists (LWEs), three Naxals were neutralised in a fierce encounter between the security forces and outlaws in a forested patch between Murkum-Talemtla under insurgency-hit Sukma district. The spot of the encounter is 2-kilometres away from the road connecting Dornapal to Jagargunda. The slain outlaws have been identified as Militia Commander Muchaki Hadma, Militia Member Muchaki Bhima and Militia Member Sodhi Deva, all residents of Kottaguda Chintalnar. They were involved in several criminal activities. Cases against them are still pending with the respective police station.
 
Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha informed that the skirmish between a squad of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and ultras took place in South Sukma last Saturday evening. “One INSAS rifle, three muzzle guns and one Improvised Explosive Device were recovered from spot during post encounter search operations”, said the SP. The SP informed that the DRG personnel were out for carrying out search operations near a forested patch of Talemtla when they came under heavy firing of Naxals.
 
The DRG personnel also took their positions and retaliated, leading to encounter that lasted for about one hour. The continuous firing of DRG personnel forced Naxals to vanish into dense forest. After the guns fell silent, the security personnel searched entire area. During the search, bodies of three rebels were recovered along with some firearms including three muzzle guns, one from each, one INSAS rifle,11 live rounds, four empty shells of AK-47, six round empty shells of SLR, 11 arrows and bows, 20-25 KG IED, Naxal backpack, cordex wire with knots, seven gelatin rods, eight tiger bomb crackers besides 10-metre electric wire, one spade, medicines, naxal literatures and several daily-use materials.
