Day 3: Bhopal Vigyan Mela focuses on water mgmt and natural resource conservation

“Natural resources are our lifeline and we are continuously working on water and natural resource management with the help of new technologies” said Dr Jai Prakash Shukla, senior scientist CSIR-AMPRI Bhopal in the third day of Bhopal Science Fair. Dr Shukla lectures on water resources management includes Geo-mapping, GIS and other latest techniques by which we can better manage our ground water. Along with this, lectures of other experts related to weather and environment are also appreciated by audience present on third day at Bhopal Vigyan Mela.
 
Celebration on the occasion of Engineering Day on Sunday also held at Mela premises. Engineering Day is celebrated every year on the birthday of Dr M Visvesvaraya, the eminent Indian Civil Engineer. The chief guest of the event was BSNL CGM Mahesh Shukla. Along with this celebration lectures session on the importance of engineering in the context of India’s development and its changing landscape and upcoming prospects were discussed. As of holiday on Sunday today huge visitors were witnessed at Vigyan Mela where people of all age group enjoyed fun activities related to science. People seen impressed after visiting different pavilions of Mela and said that many models present in the fair directly affect their life.
 
Many visitors seen impressed after getting details from different science model and said that as they did not know much about latest scientific development but after visiting Vigyan Mela they are feeling proud over our scientists. Stall of Bharat Petroleum Bina oil refinery was also a major attraction for the visitors here. Engineers and staff of refinery demonstrated whole refinery process through a very interactive model. Another attraction of Vigyan Mela is a unique calculator prepared by a nursing student. This calculator calculates the pregnancy duration during pregnancy period. This allows the woman to easily get information about her possible delivery date. Stall of Ravindra Nath Tagore University Bhopal demonstrated models of normal and fighter planes.
 
Arshad, a University student on stall told that he has prepared these models after studying the original models and include my innovative ideas in them also, so that they can work better even in the adverse environmental conditions. Along with the new innovative ideas at the fair, there are also models showing basic knowledge of science. A similar model provides information of the process of formation of urine in human body as well as side effects in body if the urine production increases or decreases in our body with a very interactive manner.
