Uday Social Development Society organised an awareness rally on the other day in the state capital. The rally was taken out to educate the communities and make them understand the importance of maintaining healthy environment. Over 100 children and youth from Jatkhedi and Bagmugliya slums participated in the drive. Children were carrying placards highlighting slogan like ‘Sabhi Rogon ki Ek Davai, Chaaron Aur Ho Saaf Safai’ and sensitised the people about the importance of cleanliness for good health, especially the hand washing system, as it is the most unhygienic practice that should be followed by children who are living in slums.

Children took out the rally from Jatkhedi slum to Dholak Basti. During the rally, children emphasised on certain points such as keeping the surrounding clean and free from stagnation, cleaning choked drainage at regular interval, drinking protected water and avoiding dumping of garbage in drains, as these are the main reasons for spreading diseases.

The rally followed by holding a hand-washing programme at Dholak Basti. The main objective of this activity was to create conducive environment for children where they can learn proper hygiene and make it a daily routine which will help reduce the risk of disease. Children‘s parliament of Uday Society led the program and the rally was very successful as the children spread the message among the community with the great sense of responsibility.
