In a first... Indian Army to conduct recruitment rally for girls from today

It is for the first time in Central India when girls have been given opportunity to serve the country as soldier (Mahila Jawan) in the Indian Army. Recruitment rally for girls is being organised for seven states at Jammu and Kashmir Rifles Regimental Centre (JAK RRC) training ground, on September 17 and 19, at 7 am onwards. Mahila Jawans will be given their first posting in Military Police. Around 1,700 girls from seven states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Goa and Union Territories Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, will participate in the recruitment rally. Madhya Bharat Area, General Officer Commanding in Chief, will visit the recruitment rally and interact with the girl candidates to encourage them for service of the nation and ensuring its security.
 
Recruitment Rally Incharge, Colonel P Chakrawarty, talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that on first day of recruitment rally organised on September 17, 7 am, around 700 girls from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will participate. Around 1,000 girls from rest of the states and Union Territories will attend the rally on September 18, 7 am. Girls will be selected on the basis of physical qualification parameters for next round of four-day medical examination.
 
Qualifying candidates will appear all India written examination to be organised on October 26. Final selection will be carried out after the verification of certificates and documents and selected candidates will be sent for training at Military Training Centre, Bengaluru, in December 2019. Girl soldiers will be given posting in Military Police. First three recruitment rallies were already conducted at Belgaon in Karnataka, Shillong in Meghalaya, Ambala in Haryana and two more rallies will be organised at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Colonel Chakrawarty informed that around 2.57 lakhs girls were registered for five recruitment rallies throughout the country.
 
Out of them, 10,000 candidates were selected on the basis of 86 percent cut-off marks of 86 percent in high school examination. District administration had made preparations for providing information to the girls to be arriving from different states and districts of Madhya Pradesh about address of dharmshala and lodges through public announcements at railway stations and bus stands and also directed the management of dharmshala and lodges for making safety arrangements for girl candidates and avoiding any kind of additional charges from them.
 
Besides, six big hoardings have been installed at main squares of the city for providing information about venue and helpline numbers of concerned departments and army authorities. Reserved metro busses will be available at railway station and bus stand for ferrying the candidates to the venue of recruitment rally at JAK RRC
