Various bodies launch cleanliness drive to mark ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’

Various organisations in the city launched cleanliness campaign in the city to mark ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’. Central Railway ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ has been organised by Nagpur Division of Central Railway from September 16 to September 30 under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Somesh Kumar. DRM Somesh Kumar administered the oath cleanliness to all railway officials and railway employees on Monday. “Mahatma Gandhi had dreamed of not only political freedom, but also a vision of a clean and developed country. Now, it is our duty to fulfill his dream,” said the DRM. He also urged the employees to dedicate two hours of every week for cleanliness.
 
The DRM and railway officials conducted cleanliness drive at Railway Station Premises. ADRM (Infra) Manoj Tiwari and railway officials also planted a sapling on the occasion. A Nukkad Natika was staged by the artists of the Central Railway Cultural Academy related to cleanliness and environment. Senior Divisional Personnel Officer G V Jagtap and other officers were present during the drive. SECR Nagpur Division of Central Railway has launched cleanliness fortnight across the division. DRM Shobhana Bandopadhyay administered the oath of cleanliness to the employees and also participated in a rally that was taken out in Motibagh Railway Colony.
 
A workshop was also organised on 24 points advised by National Green Tribunal. ADRMs Y H Rathi, B K Rath and others were present during the programme. Various programmes will be organised in coming days. NMC Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) launched a cleanliness drive from September 11 to October 27 in the city. “The campaign will be implemented in three phases,” said Mayor Nanda Jichkar and Commissioner Abhijit Bangar. A meeting was held where Mayor and Municipal Commissioner were present at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Auditorium at NMC office on Monday. Standing Committee Chairperson Pradeep Pohane, senior councilor Sunil Agarwal, Lata Kadgaye, Rajkumar Sahu, Amar Bagde, Vandana Yangtwar, Madhuri Thakre, Abhiruchi Rajgir, Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, Assistant Commissioner Prakash Varade, Ashok Patil, Harish Rauth, Subhash Jaydev, Health Officer Dr Sunil Kamble, Nodal Officer of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Dr Pradeep Dasarwar and others were present on the occasion. At the outset, Mayor Jichkar briefed about the campaign.
 
The campaign is in three phases and will be launched on September 18 from. A rally will be organized to raise awareness about cleanliness and plasticity in all the divisions. She said that the NGOs would be given the best NGO award during the campaign. The Mayor appealed citizens to do not use plastic. The Municipal Commissioner directed that a special campaign should be set up to eliminate the encroachment from the city. He also directed the officials to pay attention to the vendors, whether they kept the litter box and how they disposed of the waste. Jayant Pathak, Lina Budhe, Anusaya Chhambrani, Green Vigil Founder Kaushab Chatterjee, Surabhi Jaiswal and others were present.
