Refusing the allegation of giving wrong information during 2013 Assembly polls, Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) State President Amit Jogi on Tuesday stated, “Why will I mention the information which was not asked in nomination application. It’s a conspiracy against me.” Speaking to media immediately after his discharge from a private hospital in Raipur, Amit Jogi said that in 2013 elections, around 1,310 nominations were filed in the constituency and in none of the application, information about date of birth and place were sought. Without naming anyone, JCC(J) State President targeted the ruling Congress and said that people with their full power, misusing the law and position to target others.
 
Jogi further stated, “I belong to the family of strugglers and very confident that truth will emerge victorious. I have complete faith on the honourable court.” It is to be mentioned here that Amit Jogi, who was lodged in Gaurela sub-jail in Bilaspur district, was hospitalised in a local hospital after he complaint of uneasiness on September 6. Later, he was shifted to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Science (CIMS) and finally referred to a private hospital in Raipur.
 
It may be recalled that Amit Jogi was arrested on September 3 from the official residence of his father in Bilaspur following a police complaint lodged by Sameera Paikra, BJP candidate from the Marwahi seat in the 2013 Assembly polls. According to Paikra, Jogi mentioned his birth place as Sarbahara village in the Gaurela area of Bilaspur, whereas, she claimed, he was born in the US, the official had said. Amit Jogi was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record)
