WCR GM inaugurates Swachhata Hi Sewa Abhiyan

General Manager of West Central Railway Ajay Vijayvargiya volunteered in cleaning the station premises in an event organised under the Samvad Diwas organised under the Swachhata Hi Sewa Abhiyan on Tuesday. At the outset General Manager Vijayvargiya paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Jabalpur Railway Station. Thereafter, he administered oath of cleanliness amongst officials, employees and staff members. The officials also distributed cloth bags amongst passengers and urged not to use plastic bags. he also inspected the platform number one and volunteered for cleanliness.
 
Vijayvargiya said that to mark the 150th birthday anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as per instructions of the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, the Indian Railways is observing Cleanliness Fortnight from September 16 to 30. As per instructions, WCR is observing Swacchata Hi Sewa Abiyan from September 11 to October 2. In this campaign WCR at all three divisions on September 11, extensive cleanliness drive was carried out. In this campaign to stop single use of plastic and to restrict use of plastic on platforms to make railway premises free from plastic. For disposal of plastic waste coming out from Railway stations around 8,800 dustbins have been installed.
 
While at main station plastic bottle crush machine have been installed. Along with this adjacent to the railway lines nursery of plants would be developed. He also apprised about different developments for cleanliness like fitting of bio-toilets in all the trains, 100 per cent mechanised laundry, etc. In the programme Additional General Manager, Anshul Gupta, DRM Dr Manoj Singh, WCR Headquarters all the officials, Jabalpur Division branch heads, employees, railway scouts and guides, Railway Protection Force officers were present and taken oath of cleanliness.
