Penalty provisions of Motor Vehicle Act to be rationalised: Minister Rajput

Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput reviewed the provisions of Central Motor Vehicle Act 1988 on Wednesday. He said that the State Government in the larger interest of public will rationalise the penalty amount. Penalty from traffic norm violators will be recovered till a rationalise limit. The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary, Transport Department, S N Mishra, Transport Commissioner Dr Shailendra Shrivastava and others. Notably, Madhya Pradesh Government is up in arms against the amended Motor Vehicle Act from the first day itself.
 
It is saying that penalty provisions are stiff and it would be almost impossible for common men to bear the penalty amount. It said that settlement amount provision rests with State Government. Notably, Central Government has amended the Motor Vehicle Act and its provision proposes heavy penalty on traffic norm violators.
