Gorewada lake water-level at maximum

RMC forecasts more rains as monsoon to remain active for 10 more days Consistent rainfall for last couple of days has brought a good news for the region as water-level of Gorewada lake that remained parched in summer is at maximum. Water in Gorewada, the lifeline of Nagpur city, is set to overflow in nearby areas. Similarly, water-level of Totladoh irrigation project has reached 100 per cent of its designed storage capacity. Nagpur city and surrounding areas are receiving continuous rains.
 
Nagpurians witnessed spilling over of Ambazari lake water due to heavy rains on Wednesday while water from Futala, too, is overflowing for last many days. Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur has predicted more rains in and around Nagpur due to a cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh. In the next 24 hours, the cyclonic circulation is expected to shift further westward and might be seen over Northeast Arabian Sea adjoining Konkan region.
 
The system will then remain stationary for next two to three days at the same location. The system might intensify further into a Low-Pressure Area and possibly become a Depression in the next three to four days. Monsoon is still active and will remain so for 10 more days. However, the prediction of more rains will raise water levels in all lakes and rivers in and around city. Lakes in city nowadays are attracting good number of citizens who are thronging the water bodies with friends and family to cherish the season. On Thursday, Nagpur recorded 22 mm rainfall while Gadchiroli received highest 33.8 mm rainfall. Bramhapuri recorded 25.2 mm rainfall while Amravati received 6.8 mm rains on Thursday. However, other parts of Vidarbha were dry.
