Medha Patkar ends indefinite fast after discussion with Behar

Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar ended her indefinite fast after having discussion with CM Kamal Nath’s representative and former Chief Secretary S C Behar on Monday night. Baihar offered lemon water to Medha Patkar, who was on indefinite fast along with six other workers in Chota Barda area of Badwani district. Baihar reached Chota Barda area of Badwani and conveyed the message of CM Kamal Nath to agitating NBA workers.
 
He also acquainted them about efforts being made to reduce the water level of Sardar Sarovar Dam project. He also spoke to persons affected by inundation of the project. He requested Medha Patkar and other agitating persons to end their indefinite fast by considering Government support. It was decided later that, Medha Patkar and her supporters will meet Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) officials in Bhopal on September 9.
 
If solution does not come out, then they will stage dharna in Bhopal. Notably, Medha Patkar and her supporters were on fast from August 25.
