BMC to renovate old step wells, BaghUmaro Dulha

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has chalked out strategy for beautification of Aishbagh Stadium, old step wells and gates in old city. In a bid to preserve heritage sites and to let know public about ancient history of Bhopal not BMC officials are working on the beautification of ward number 40. Aishbagh Stadium, Bagh Umrao Dulha, step wells located at ward number 40 and gates will be renovated. An inspection was carried out by BMC officials including BMC Commissioner Vijay Datta in which direction were given to maintain the cleanliness in State capital.
 
A show cause notice was issued to BMC health official Iftedar Rasool and also to zonal officer Ranbir Kumar. Royal Market, Pari Bazaar, Shajehanabad, Ten Mohre, Ibrahimpura, Budhwara, Chiklod, Pul Bogda, Aishbagh Stadium, Bagh Umrao Dulha etc were identified for the remmovation. Show cause notice as also issued to BMC official at zone number 11 ward number 40 for not maintaining twin bin system of segregation. Besides undertaking restoration, renovations of the old city market, necessary amenities were also to be put in place. Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) had come up with detail proposal to revive the old heritage charm of the city market.
 
The project entailed all shops and establishments at the market to have symmetrical facade with specially designed signboards, doors and even the shutters to give a unique visual appeal. The drainage system too is not robust and that the sewer water starts overflowing during rains were also inspected. BMC officials also inspected Chowk Bazaar. The ambitious project of giving a heritage look to the old city Chowk Market is under pipeline. It has to be mentioned that BMC has sanctioned Rs 5.19 crore in 2015, stating that the amount would be utilised for giving a unique heritage look.
 
Underground electric wiring, arrangement of water tankers, free Wi-fi, sitting arrangements for visitors were among the amenities proposed in the project. To give a feel of past, vintage looking tile were to replace wrecked and cracked flooring in the area surrounded by shops. Huge amount was spent on flooring work undertaken in 2015. The project aimed at giving a heritage look of the Bhopal Royal era with modern amenities.
