To protest the efforts allegedly being made for further bifurcation of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, thousands of advocates of the High Court and District Court abstained from routine court work, on Tuesday. While condemning the act, they stated that members of legal fraternity would not allow any such move in the future. Senior office-bearers of the High Court Bar Association, District Bar Association and High Court Advocates’ Bar Association said Harda, Khandwa, Burhanpur and Harsood districts come under ambit of Principal Seat of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

For some publicity popularity, some people had recently appealed to the Collector Harda for making Indore bench the jurisdiction of aforementioned districts. The Collector had forwarded the application to the Law Ministry and the the minister concerned has sent the same to the Principal Seat of the MP High Court. Senior office-bearers of the Bar Associations said the High Court administration had, in the past also, rejected such demands. Despite this, sending letter to the High Court by the administration is incorrect. Lawyers have condemned the move of the Collector and the Law Ministry.

They also demanded Registrar, Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Acting Chief Justice of the MP High Court to reject the application concerned with jurisdiction. Senior office-bearers of the Bar Association said they denounced the act of lawyers who intentionally raise such issues just before State Bar elections to gain cheap popularity.

Amongst those who participated in the protest were President, MPHC Bar Association, Raman Patel, Secretary, Manish Tiwari, Senior Vice President, Paritosh Trivedi, Vice President, Shambhu Dayal Gupta, Treasurer O P Agnihotri, Premendra Sen, Yogesh Sen, Manoj Kumar Rajak, Ajitesh Tiwari, Priyanka Mishra, Yash Soni, Sangita Naidu, office-bearers of State Junior Lawyers’ Association including Mukund Pandey, President, State Junior Lawyers’ Association, Ravindra Dutt, Secretary, Vinay Pandey, Sravan Pandey, Maneesh Meshram, Ram Bihari Goutam, Amit Sthapak, Rajesh Vishwkarma, Vishal Sonkar and others.
