Even on Tuesday Forest Minister Umang Singhar continued to target former CM and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh. This time, he went one more step ahead by alleging that Digvijay Singh is blackmailing. Interacting with mediapersons at his residence in State capital and answering to a question that whether Digvijay Singh is blackmailing Government and ministers, Umang Singhar told that the manner in which Digvijay Singh get works done at his level and creates pressure through the medium of officers is tantamount to blackmailing.

The manner in which Digvijay Singh is showing interest in policies is like blackmailing. He also said that Digvijay Singh is showing that he is another power centre but real power centre is only Chief Minister Kamal Nath. He also alleged that Digvijay Singh is showing interests in sand mining, liquor and vice versa and if CBI probe is done then things will become crystal clear. This fresh statement of Umang Singhar has further embarrassed Digvijay Singh. Earlier, Singhar had accused Digvijay Singh of writing letters to ministers and trying to know about status of his various recommendations, including that of transfer. Singhar had also accused Digvijay Singh of running Government from behind the curtain and showing interests in all kind of works including sand mining.

It is from last three days that Forest Minister Umang Singhar is breathing fire against Digvijay Singh and levelling various kind of allegations but so far, Digvijay Singh has maintained stoic silence over the issue. However, Minister in the Government and son of Digvijay Singh, Jaivardhan Singh has come in defence of his father by tweeting that “Congress came to power in Madhya Pradesh through the hard work of party workers and public blessing. Today, the challenge before us to maintain the country’s Constitution. Farmers, labourers and youths exploited by BJP are looking towards us with hopeful eyes. Writing letters is a democratic process and nothing is wrong in this,”.

He also said that it is CM Kamal Nath who is power centre of Madhya Pradesh. All ministers and MLAs are following his orders. He claimed that his father does not interfere in works of ministers. Taken a back by the unfolding events, Chief Minister Kamal Nath convened meeting and spoke to ministers Umang Singhar, Kamleshwar Patel, Harsh Yadav and others late on Tuesday night. However, nothing concrete could be known about the meeting but CM’s meeting is seen as a damage control exercise. Notably, Umang Singhar, who is nephew of ex-Leader of Opposition late Jamuna Devi, is in race for PCC chief, but Digvijay Singh is said to be averse to his name. Seeing this, Singhar had also stated that at the age of 72, Digvijay Singh still wants to become PCC chief. But Digvijay Singh had pitched for young and energetic leader for PCC chief’s post.
