Three held with stolen mobiles worth Rs 1.75 lakh

Taking serious view on complaints of mobile snatching by motorcycle riders in posh areas of the city as well as theft on passengers travelling in auto-rickshaws and taxis, the Jabalpur police has initiated extensive search as per instructions of Superintendent of Police, Amit Singh. Police succeeded in nabbing three youths involved in mobile set snatching, theft in public places, on roadside and in auto-rickshaws. Police also seized motorcycles used in the incidents.
 
The accused have been identified as Mohammed Naved (19), son of Mohd Naseem, resident of Saleem Malguzar Ka Bada, Deenanath Crossing, Hanumantaal, Mohd Sajid, son of Mohd Shaqueel (19), resident of Choupra Kuan, Tedhineem, Hanumanataal and Mohd Akram, son of Mohd Shaqueel Ahmed, resident of Thakkargram, Hanumantaal. In this case, police have seized two mobiles snatched from public places while also recovered 17 mobile sets stolen from passengers using public transport. According to information, Shambu Kumar (21), resident of OPM Colony, Amlai, Shahdol, staying with his friend in Bhawartaal area, had filed a complaint of mobile snatching at Omti police station on August 31.
 
He mentioned that near City Hospital Bhawartaal at around 10.40 pm, two youths came on motorcycle and snatched his mobile set of J-7 Max worth Rs 15000. Under section 392 of IPC, a case was filed. Similarly in another case, a hostel student, Yashi Jharia filed complaint that while she was talking on mobile in front of her hostel, three youths came on a motorcycle and snatched mobile handset worth Rs 6500 from her. Police registered a case under section 392 of IPC and initiated investigation. SP Amit Singh, took cognisance of the cases, and instructed officers to gather information about snatchers. Addl SP Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, Additional SP Crime, Shivesh Singh Baghel and CSP Omti, Shashikant Shukla, CSP Gohalpur, Devesh Kumar Pathak under the direction of SHO Omti, SPS Baghel, Crime Branch and Omti Police constituted a team for investigation.
 
During probe, police has checked CCTV footage of areas and on given time, found the suspected faces and shared it on its social media. A constable posted in Hanumantaal police station identified an accused as Mohd Naved, resident of Tedhineem area. On combing rigorously at possible spots, Naved was finally rounded-up and arrested. He confessed and his two associates, Akram and Sajid, were also arrested. On information police recovered 17 mobiles worth Rs 1.75 lakh as well seized motorcycle used in incident. Police have registered case of 41 (1-4) JAFO, 379 of IPC and scanning of mobile owners are being carried out. In solving this case, SHO Omti, SPS Baghel, ASI Amrish Pandey, Constable Balram Pandey, Atul Garg, Shailendra Kaurav, Mahesh Kahar, Nitin Mishra, Amit Dubey, Omti ASI, Naval Singh, VD Diwedi, Head Constable, Teerath Gautam, Amar Singh and from Adhatratal, Mahendra Bist played key role. SP Amit Singh declared special cash reward for the investigation team.
